For thousands of years, society has lived with the expectation to build for the next generations. There’s that old parable that goes something like society becomes great when men plant trees whose shade they’ll never sit beneath. The people over the age of 60 came into a world full of shade from all the trees planted by the generations before them. They chopped down those trees to sell the lumber, despite never having been without shade. Now their children have no shade to sit in and they do not notice and/or they do not care.
Stay well friends,
